Storyboard Text

  • Work in the field you filthy peasant!
  • Yes sir.
  • Knight! Get him! He stole something from me!!
  • Whoa. What's going on?
  • Muslims! Surrender the Holy Land back to us!
  • I've never been here before. I got to tell my family!
  • In the medieval times kings ruled over everything. Nobles had land, but still had to follow the king. Peasants would be the ones who did the work.
  • Sign your name King John!
  • I, King John sign the Magna Carta in order to reduce the power of the king.
  • Justice was swift and cruel. If you were a peasant, and a noble or king accused you of something you didn't do, you couldn't say anything. You were dead.
  • You're going to pay me!!!
  • The Crusades was a religious war. It was a BIG deal. After that, everything changed. Europeans were more open to traveling to foreign places. This opened new trade, and brought forth a larger middle class.
  • Oh No! He's got a longbow!!!
  • 200 years after the Crusades, the law in England was changing dramatically. King John was king, the lords rebeled and created the Magna Carta. Which gave more power to the nobles instead of the king. Which set feudalism off balance. As you can imagine, that's were Robin Hood came from. That was only the begining...
  • Around the 1300s, when everything was perfect, increased population and products, it happened... The Bubonic Plague (commonly known as the Black Death.) struck! Leaving two-thirds of the population left alive. Since serfs were the main survivors, and help was few, the serfs demanded money for their services.
  • A catastrophe erupted, that lasted 100 years! It was called the 100 Year War. It was Europe vs. France. Around that time, new weapons were created. This would include the longbow. Longbows can even shoot through knights' armor! If you think about it, knights seemed less important, because now they have something that would actually kill them. This did a number on feudalism.
