  • Initial Dialogue or Event
  • Demetrius scolded,"I love thee not, therefore pursue me not" (Shakespeare 37).
  • Propels the Action by...
  • Oberon thought, "But who comes here? I am invisible, and I will overhear their conference" (Shakespeare 37).
  • Outcome
  • Oberon thought, "Fare thee well, nymph. Ere he do leave this grove, Thou shalt fly him and he shall seek thy love" (Shakespeare 9).
  • Demetrius runs into the woods, pursued closely by Helena. Oberon was standing nearby. Demetrius does not want Helena to follow him.
  • Initial Dialogue or Event
  • Oberon commanded, "Give me that boy and I will go with thee" (Shakespeare 34).
  • Seeing the two approaching, Oberon makes himself invisible and listens in on their argument. He learns that Helena loves Demetrius, but is not loved in return.
  • Propels the Action by...
  • Titania responded, "Not by thy fairy kingdom. Fairies! Away! We shall chide downright, if I longer stay" (Shakespeare 34).
  • After the argument is over, Oberon sees Helena leave and decides to put the flower juice in Demetrius's eyes to make him love Helena and try to turn the tables. This will throw a wrench in everything and screw everything up.
  • Outcome
  • Oberon schemed, "There sleeps Titania sometime of the night, lulled in these flowers with dances and delight. And there the snake throws her enameled skin, weed wide enough to wrap a fairy in. And with the juice of this I’ll streak her eyes, and make her full of hateful fantasies" (Shakespeare 41).
  • Titania and Oberon meet up in the woods. There, Oberon tries to take the Indian boy from Titania to work for him.
  • Titania does not allow this to happen. She slashes his cape with her hair and takes the Indian boy and her fairies away.
  • Titania leaves, leaving Oberon angered at her. After listening to Demetrius and Helena's argument, he decides to put the love juice in Titania's eyes to make her fall in love with the next thing she sees, hopefully a hideous creature or monster.
