I think he was killed with the fork because there are no other wounds and there is no reason to put a garden fork into a dog after he died for some other reason. But I could not be certain about this.
Christopher sees the dog and decides that he is dead.
He knees down beside the dog, which is called Wellington and belongs to Mrs Shears. He puts his hand on the muzzle of the dog, and feels that it is still warm, which means that he is not dead for a long time.
Who killed him and why?
Christopher pulls the fork out of the dog and lifts it into his arms to hug him. The dog leaks blood from the fork-holes.
I like dogs because you always know what they are thinking. Dogs have just five moods and they are faithful and cannot tell lies.
