I am James Madison, a Federalist. We think that the Articles of Confederation are weak and ineffective. National government could protect our rights as citizens. the state governments could protect individual freedoms without a bill of rights.
I am Thomas Jefferson, an Anti-federalist. We thought that the Articles of confederation were a good plan, but a strong central government could threaten states power and also the rights of the common people .
The Great compromise is an agreement in which it provided big and small states equal representation from the senate and equal or proportional representation in the house of representatives.
In the north we believe that we should have equal say, instead of the south having more say than us in the north. We believe that the taxes should be paid to the government. As for the slavery issue, we say it should be counted as illegal here.
As for us in the South states, We believe the best way for states to be represented is through proportionality. We think the issue of slavery should be legal, and counted for. this way we would get even more say. Lastly, we say that the taxes should NOT be paid to the government.
The 3/5 compromise is what the delegates agreed on, for the issue to count slaves for representation or not to count them. What this is basically saying is, slaves would be counted as three fifths of one person.
