My name is Lucille. I am the owner of the the Cook Coffeehouse and I am also the mother of Matilda. My husband has recently died so that's why I own it now.
I got sick with the Yellow Fever. I told my daughter to leave town so that I wouldn't get her sick. I don't remember much after that except that I stayed at the coffeehouse to get well while Eliza and Dr. Kerr helped me with treatments.
After I got better, I decided to ride up to the Ludington's farm to reunite with Matilda. Once I got there, I realized she wasn't there. I was panting hard with the thought of my girl gone. I stayed there because they wouldn't let anyone back in.
When I was at the Ludington's farm, I slept in one morning. Surprisingly, I woke up the glistening of white. The frost had came! There was finally a chance for hope!
The frost is here!
I returned back to home after the first frost along with Mrs. Ludington and a bunch of others including the president. I was hoping that Mattie was fine and that she was here.
I learned a very valuable lesson. I learned that you should be thankful for what you have right in front of you. Having the fever made me realize how much more important things are from the coffeehouse.
