Iago doesn't like Othello, because he has appointed a man, Cassio, with no war experiences over him. By using Roderigo's love for Desdemona, he tries to end Othello's marriage. So Iago tells Desdemona's father, Brabantio, that Othello and Desdemona are secretly married and Brabantio disapproves of the idea because he is of a different color and he thinks that Othello put her under a spell.
Cassio comes to tell Othello that he is needed by the duke of Venice to fight against the Turks. Brabanito feels that it is important to mention this to the duke. It so happened that Desdemona over heard them and later would ask Othello to tell them again and that is how she fell in love with him.
