Life of edison
On February 11, 1847 Thomas Alva Edison was born. He grew up in Milan, Ohio to a middle class family. He lived with his mother and father, as well as three brothers and three sisters.
As a child Edison was very peculiar. In fact, he didn't talk until he was 4 years old. At first his family thought he was deaf when they realized he wasn't they believed he was just unintelligent. Once he started talking though he wouldn't stop, always asking "Why?".
At the age of twelve years old he showed his entrepreneurial skills. He convinced his parents to let him start a news paper business where he would sell papers on the train tracks.
Inn1868 Edison returned home ,to find his mother mentally ill and father out of work. He decided to support his family by getting a job.
Later in life Edison began inventing in his spare time. He got his first patent in 1868 for his Electrical Voice Recorder. Edison was working on creating a telephone but Alexander Graham Bell was granted a patent for his own. Then eleven- years later from his first patent Thomas Edison created the first electrical light bulb, an invention that revolutionized America.
Thomas Edison died on October 18, 1931. Although he was no longer living his inventions continue on to this day, in fact it is hard to go somewhere that one of his inventions isn't. Edisons inventions have impacted the world for 138 years, he is still known as one of the greatest inventors of all time with 1,093 patents.
