  • Battle of Gonzales: Mexican Soldiers come to retrieve the cannon
  • I will give you the cannon if you show me your orders
  • Give us the Cannon that Mexico lent you!
  • Fine we will go get the orders
  • Battle of Gonzales: Texas Fires on Mexico
  • Battle of Gonzales: Mexico Surrenders
  • COME AND TAKE IT
  • Santa Anna was worried about more rebelling in the Texas, so he sent soldiers to retrieve the cannon he lent them to keep out the natives. The colonists were not very happy about this
  • Texans were angry at Mexico with the Law of April 6th and all they had done. They used the cannon as a symbol of freedom and they wouldn't let Mexico take away their rights. So when the Mexican soldiers came back over the river they shot at soldiers.
  • The Mexican soldiers were shocked to see the colonists firing on them and were forced to surrender. Santa Anna was furious when he found out a bunch of farmers had beat his army. This battle gave hope for Texans to be free.
