  • The War Measures Act is officially in place. The enactment of this is at the request of the Quebec government and the Canadian government has agreed.
  • Four armed men kidnap Pierre Laporte, the number 2 man in Quebec and Quebec Labor Minister. The men, as suspected, were apart of the FLQ. After these kidnappings important government officials were protected by armed guards.
  • Federal troops are moved to Ottawa to protect government officials and parliament buildings.
  • The War Measures Act took away civil rights of Canadians, allowed police to hold people without charge for 21-90 days before they got to a trial. In total 464 people were arrested.
