Storyboard Text

  • Introduction
  • Claim
  • Fortunato, can you help me with a suspicion?
  • Of course, whatever you need
  • Reason
  • This way.
  • 'The Cask of Amontillado' by Edgar Allen Poe is about a man named Montresor. For many years Montresor has been insulted by Fortunato, believeing he's a wine expert. Last insult was that, it tipped Montresor off and he vowed revenge. He picked a date. Poor Fortunato was too wasted to notice what was really happening, Montresor has lead him down into Montresor's family Catacombs, chained him up and buried him alive that was the end of Fortunato.
  • Textual Evidence
  • How far down did you put this Amontillado
  • We're almost there, I promise
  • Montresor's revenge was justified
  • Anylasis
  • Is this where your family lies
  • Fortunato has disrespected and has insulted Montresor many times, for many years even. Enough was enough.
  • Conclusion
  • Let me OUT!
  • Montresor states, "No one insults me without getting a punishment."
  • This shows that Montresor means what he says. He is true to his motto. He almost doesn't want to play Fortunato's game, it was time for Fortunato to play his game instead. Montresor is punishing Fortunato by chaining him up and leaving him to rot.
  • Oh yes
  • With barring Fortunato alive, Montresor has got his revenge justified. He is able to live without being insulted through out his life. The game is over and Montresor won.
