Storyboard Text

  • Ready for D.C.?
  • This plane is huge!
  • What are they doing up there mom?
  • My family and I were very excited for our big vacation of the year- a trip to Washington D.C. I remember my dad was especially excited about this get-away because he works long hours.
  • Me, being a first time flyer, wanted to board the plane first. I was astonished by just the size of the massive piece of technology.
  • The landmarks we saw were bigger than I expected. I remember that there were people running a drill or taking certain precautions on the roof of the white house. We were too far away to actually see what the secret service or whoever it was were doing though.
  • Home at last!
  • Another very interesting landmark was the flag flown at Fort Sumter to show that they were still fighting. It had bullet holes and tears throughout it. The flag had to be kept at a dim light because the museum workers were trying to prevent the color from fading.
  • Why can't we take pictures?
  • It'll dim the nice, vibrant red, white, and blue.
  • We also got to take a peek at the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the spot on the Lincoln Memorial where Martin Luther King gave his "I have a dream" speech, and my favorite, the Vietnam memorial.
  • Even though it was a very fun vacation, everyone was glad to be home. We ended up having even more fun on the next trip- Hawaii.
