THE ALAMO ON FEBRUARY 23, 1836
THE BEGGING:In December 1835, in the early stages of Texas’ war for Independence from Mexico, a group of Texan persistence led by George Collinsworth and Benjamin Milam overwhelmed the Mexican Garrison at the Alamo and captured the fort.
THE MIDDLE: The Alamo defenders, led by Bowie, dug in; nonetheless, we need to prepare to defend the fort to the last. These defenders, who despite later reinforcement, never numbered more than 200, included Davy Crockett who arrived in early February.
The End I'm glad you could listen to our story!!!!!
THE END: On February 23, a Mexican foures, comprising somewhere between 1800 and 6000 men and commanded by General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, began a siege on the fort. The Texans lasted 13 days, but on March 6, Mexican forces broke through the breach in the outer wall of the courtyard and overpowered them, with the Mexicans defeating the Texans.
