Storyboard Text

  • Undoubtedly it was colder than fifty below- how much colder he did not know. But the temperature did not matter.
  • I should be with the boys by six!
  • Figuring he was making good timing, the man stops to eat lunch. He made a fire so he could thaw out the ice-muzzle that covered his mouth and his lunch.
  • Better watch out for ice traps, I can't risk getting my feet wet!
  • NO! This will surely delay me!
  • At a place with no signs, where the soft unbroken snow seemed to advertise solidity beneath, the man broke through. Soaking himself halfway to his knees.
  • Knowing he needed to build another fire and dry out his footwear or risk losing his feet, the man climbed, looking for a suitable place. After finding a good foundation, the man knew he could not fail in his first attempt to start a fire.
  • Maybe I should have listened to the man at Sulphur Creek. I shouldn't be traveling alone in this cold.
  • Making a foolish mistake, the man builds his fire under a tree covered with snow. Soon, snow began dropping on his fire and killed it. After struggling to build another fire, the man look at alternate options for heat. He considers killing his dog and using the carcass.
  • ???!!!
  • Oh no! I should have listened to that man. Maybe I'll kill my dog for heat!
  • You were right old man, I shouldn't travel alone.
  • Unable to build a fire and not capable of killing his dog. The man lied down knowing that nature had won this battle and fell into the best deep sleep he ever had.
