  • Oedipus operates by solving riddles. The Sphinx's, the cause of the plague, and the killer of Laius.

  • Teiresias tells oedipus the knowledge about Laius' murder but Oedipus misunderstands.
  • Oedipus is telling Tiresias the prophet that because he is blind that he knows no knowledge. but Oedipus misunderstands that Tiresias tells no lies.
  • Oedipus accuses Creon of telling Tiresias to tell the false prophecy because Tiresias "desires" the crown of the king. But in reality, Creon has no desire to be King because he is already wealthy and powerful.
