  • 1. Scout, Jem and Dill are fascinated by Boo Radley and want to get him to come out of his house. 2. Atticus is defending Tom Robinson, a black man who has been accused of raping Mayella Ewell though many townspeople don’t approve.
  • Climax
  • Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty. Guilty.
  • The kids try a number of ideas to get a peek at Boo Radley including touching the house, giving him a letter and trying to peep in the windows at night. Scout misses a chance to see Boo when he puts a blanket on her as she is watching Miss Maudie’s house burn.
  • Falling Action
  • A group of citizens confronts Atticus outside the jail the night before Tom’s trial begins. They want to take Tom and kill him, but, luckily, Scout, Jem and Dill arrive and ruin their plan.
  • Resolution
  • He's a nice man.
  • Despite Atticus’s efforts and the truth that is evident, the jury decides Tom is guilty. He is imprisoned and sadly shot when he tries to escape.
  • Bob is upset at how the trial went and he tries to get revenge on Atticus and Judge Taylor. He ends up attacking Atticus’s kids as they walk home from the Halloween party at school.
  • Boo has saved Jem and Scout and killed Bob Ewell. Scout finally gets to meet Boo and realizes that he is just a nice, shy man.
