The Ramayana: The Forest Life
This storyboard does not have a description.
Rama, Lakshmana, and Sita settle into a forest in Panchavati. This forest was magnificent, and was untouched by demons. They made a friend with a vulture king named Jatayu, who guarded Sita when Rama and Lakshmana hunted.
Beyond the forest lives Ravana's sister, Shurpanakha. "She had a pot belly, huge ears, claws on her fingers and toes, slits for eyes, and dirty hair." Shurpanakha spots Rama and decides she wants him as a husband.
In an attempt to win Rama over, Shurpanakha uses her powers to turn into a beautiful maiden. She tells Rama that he should leave Sita and be with her. Rama wasn't interested. Shurpanakha transformed back into her normal form and took her anger out on Sita. In return, Lakshmana cut her ears and nose off.
"Why does such a strong, handsome man like you live in this forest? "
Shurpanakha tells her two brothers, Khar and Dushan, about how badly she was treated. They were outraged, so they put together a demon army to go after Rama and the others. The battle between Rama's forces and Khar's forces was fierce. However, Rama's forces prevailed.
"That is your brother, my husband. He is crying for help. You must go to him."
Shurpanakha tells Ravana about lost battle. Ravana chooses to avenge her sister by taking Sita. A magician, named Mareech, distracts Rama by turning into a golden deer. Concerned, Lakshmana goes to look for him. This left Sita all alone.
"But Rama told me not to leave your side."
Ravana lures Sita by pretending to be a poor and hungry man. Sita is taken by Ravana, while Rama and Lakshmana had already found each other. The brothers become extremely worried about Sita's safety and regret leaving her alone.
