Hello! My name is Jesse and I will be your host on the weather news channel, Tomorrow Today! In about a two days we might be getting a tornado in our very own hometown of Ellicot City, Maryland ! Let's go take a look at our first news reporter , Katie!
Hey guys. I was just talking to our metorologist Mal about our upcoming thunderstorm. He said that it could result in a category 2 tornado! The thunderstorm will create a cyclone which will form a tornado!
A cyclone is an area of low pressure where surface winds rotate. They create updrafts that contain warm rising air. The cooler air takes place of the warmer air and begins to spin. After a series of spinning, the air moves vertically and eventually forms a tornado!
Thanks Katie! Now I know how to predict when severe weather is coming. As you can see, it is a very complicated process , but what is even more important is staying safe. Let's go to our city manager, Mr.Spandelk.
Hi Jesse! Right now I'm trying to get everything prepared and ready for the storm. We need to make sure all the power lines are protected, we have to make sure everyone has a radio in case the power goes out, people also need to have food, water, and candles. All the necessity's!
Thanks Mr.Spandelk! Now I know what to do in case of an emergency! And right now it looks like Ellicot City might have some pretty severe events.
