Copyright Law & Fair Use
What about using a copyrighted song in my music video project?
So what exactly is fair use?
Can I copy information from the internet and use it in more report on Elephant Seals?
Fair use is any copying of copyrighted material done for a limited and “transformative” purpose, such as to comment upon, criticize, or parody a copyrighted work. Such uses can be done without permission from the copyright owner.
Simply put, when using copyrighted music for the educational purposes stated above, it should be done on a secured network. Once you publish the video on your school website or some other public video site or unsecured network, a copyright infringement has occurred.
You would still need to put the information in your own words or it considered plagiarism.
