Hi! I am a scientific Researcher. I work for a local Queensland University. I am specifically a Marine Biologist - so my job is to analyse and research all the different species of fish and other marine life on the Great Barrier Reef.
On this research vessel (boat) there are lots of other researchers and scientists that are studying the Great Barrier Reef. For example, there is geologists, photographers, divers, historians, geographers, surveyers and many more. We all love the reef and want to helps its inhabitants. We also want to teach people the importance of the reef so that we can sustain it for a long time to come.
We are all stake holders in the reef because it provides us with work, we have an interest in it and it is extremely important for us to gain a further knowledge of the world we live in - something that we, researchers and scientists all have an invested interest and connection to.
I do lots of diving on the reef to learn about all the different marine life, from the dolphins, wales, sharks to all the different fish and corals, I research them all and their importance to the reef so we can protect them effectively.
Unfortunately, I don't earn a lot of money or help the economy a lot. We are also working on better ways for us to do our research without disturbing the reef as much so that we minimalism our impact.
I have a very important job and I am a major stakeholder in the reef just like all the other scientific researchers. We are very helpful and sustainable environmentally but not so much economically.
