Storyboard Text

  • Woman in the North had to work in factories making clothing out of cotton and they were paid only $2 per week
  • Immigrants from New England came to the North for new job employments but they didn't work as slaves because in the North slavery was banned in 1804 and so they worked in factories or anything that was available
  • In the North slaves were free because the North didn't like slavery but they still were treated terrible but not as bad as the South.
  • The south made lots of money by producing cotton and using slaves to produce the cotton so that they can ship it the north and to Europe.
  • In the South there was a huge growth of slavery and cotton. With the more cotton they grew the more slaves the South had. So manly slaves worked in fields most of the day
  • The freedom of a slave in the South was never really secure. Slave catchers would look through the streets looking for slaves that escaped
