Storyboard Text

  • We need to get out, now!
  • What is that, Ember?
  • I could drop down the note for Clary and hope someone finds it, and comes up.
  • Wow, What's this!
  • •Lina is a static character, she didn't change personality or learn from her mistakes. Lina has been nervous in the beginning of the book with jobs, also not realizing that Ember is falling apart. By the end she was smarter, not by much. Also more problem solving. At the beginning of the book Lina was not scared of anything, she was happy, Because she didn't even realize that Ember was falling apart. By the middle of the book she was just realizing that Ember was going, but not worried. She was curious. Finally by the end she was aware knowing that she needed to get out of Ember.
  • I need to get Poppy. I can't leave my baby sister here.
  • The turning point for Lina is when she made it to the top of earth and was problem solving to let the people in Ember know how to get up.
  • I don't like how they ended the book, i would have made it say what Mrs. Murdo did with the note, even if she just put it on a shelf. I don't like the abrupt ending that it had.
  • Fire. I need a book to learn about fire.
  • When Lina ran from the jailhouse on to the rooftop of the gathering hall. She realized that she had to take Poppy even though it wasn't going to be the safest. This is Man vs. Self because she had to decide on leaving her only family left in Ember with Mrs. Murdo or take her with her where it may not be safe.
  • I need to tell you about this note that my Grandmother found in our closet.
  • Theme is the meaning and lesson of a story. The theme in this story is trust because Lina would trust people that she shouldn't have and should have trusted. She shouldn't have trusted the mayor or the guards with the message. And she should have trusted Mrs. Murdo with the message.
  • A recurring symbol in the book is fire. Fire is rare in Ember, in the beginning Doon and Lina didn't know what fire really was. By the end they would have candles which were handheld flames.
