  • A Sailor Returns Main character: Thomas Pentreath Time period: early 1900's
  • Thomas Pentreath writes a letter to his daughter Jane who believes he was dead.
  • Thomas and his grandson Evan got to know each other and built a boat.
  • When the police found out Thomas have spent time in jail for killing a man they accused him of murdering the neighbor.
  • Thomas was proven innocent and returned to England they were all happy they found each other.
  • The search for freedom is the theme in my novel, A Sailor Returns. Tom wanted to be free of the guilt he felt for abandoning Jane. Tom Pentreath finds his freedom because Jane forgives him and he gets very close to his grandson Evan.
