  • Over 4000 million years ago Volcanoes are erupting, there are no plants, animals or water.
  •
  • CH4
  • O2
  • CO2
  • 4000 million years ago Water vapour was condensing to form lakes rivers and oceans.
  • Carbon Dioxide  dissoloves into the lakes and oceans.
  • 3000 million years ago Simple life forms develop
  • Carbon Dioxide  levels are falling. Nitrogen levels are increasing and living things are adding oxygen to the atmostphere.
  • 400 million years ago Animals with shells develop in the ocean and land plants add to the oxygen levels.
  • Oxygen levels have risen to 2%. CO2 levels are still decreasing.
  • Atmostmostphere today Mostly nitrogen Some Oxygen  A little CO2
  • However humans are making changes to the atmostphere. Through deforestation and  industry we are causing the oxygen levels to  drop and the CO2 levels to rise.
