They found the gold and refused to leave it alone. They played a game of sticks and whoever drew the longest stick had to return to town to get bread and wine.
Until an old man told them about some gold
Three men are drinking at the tavern
When he went back to get the bread and wine the other 2 plotted a way to kill him and split the gold between themselves
The young man instead wanted the gold to himself so he bought many poisons instead of wine and bread. He found a man who lent him some cups, which he filled two with poison and one with regular wine.
When the young man returned the other two men killed him, and decided to celebrate with the wine he brought back. All three men died, and the story shows a prime example of karma.
