Paethon who is Helios' mortal son wants to be as godlike as his father demands his father let him ride his chariot of the sun.
Helios knows he shouldn't let him but he cares so much about his son he is going to let him ride the chariot of the sun.
As he begins to ride he try's to show off to impress his dad. Helios feels that something bad will happen.
Because he was showing off he lost control of the chariot setting the world on fire. Zeus saw the destruction Patheon caused so he killed him by the mighty power of a lightning bolt.
Because Helios didn't have the power to physical say no to his son he is responsible for his sons death and he lives with that regret everyday till the end of time.
