Storyboard Text

  • Characterization "He had on a tight fitting parti-stripped dress and his head was surmounted by the conical cap and bells."
  • Foreshadowing "You? Impossible! A mason?" "A mason." I replied. "A sign," he said "a sign."
  • Imagery "We passed through a range of low arches, descended...and arrived at a deep crypt,"
  • The use of characterization in this scene tells and shows the reader what Fortunado is wearing and it is also characterizing him as a fool.
  • Foreshadowing comes into play in this scene because in the end Montresor uses the trowel that Fortunado had pulled out of his coat. This is a good way to hint at something going to happen with the trowel but not coming out and saying it.
  • The author used imagery to show how creepy and dark the setting was. Without describing more, the readers could have thought anything, but since they used imagery, you can really picture what it looks like.
