Our fleet is unsinkable!
King Philip II wanted to punish Queen Elizabeth for rejecting his marriage proposal, their religious differences, the execution of Mary Queen of Scots, and because English sailors had been robbing Spanish treasure ships.
The English shall be destroyed for this!
Though greatly out numbered the English strategized in setting 8 of their ships of fire and sent them in the direction of the Spanish Armada. This was able to disrupt the formation of the Spanish ships leaving them open for attack.
Weather also played a part in giving victory to the English. While at sea the those remaining of the Spanish Armada encountered many severe storms that took out many ships, even those who survived washed up on Irish shores and were then killed by soldiers and settlers.
All because of the Spanish's poor ship designs, leaders, tactics, artillery, and overall poor plan of attack. The English did claim victory.
Victory to the English! Celebrate!
