James Donovan Halliday was born on June 12, 1972, in Middletown, Ohio.
You're invited to one of my weekly D&D gaming sessions in my basement.
He was introduced to an entire group of "mega geeks." They had accepted him as one of their own and for the first time, he had a circle of friends.
Halliday created his first video game at age 15. He had gotten a TRS-80 Color Computer that previous Christmas. He had called it Anorak's Quest. The name came from a female British exchange student. He had liked it so much that he had named his favorite D&D character.
They had started to sell the video game at their local computer store. They hand-copied the game onto dozens of 5 1/4-inch floppy disks and stuck them into ziplock bags. Including a set of instructions.
When they kept selling out, they decided to start their own business in Morrow's basement. Halliday programmed new versions for the Atari 800XL. In 6 months, themselves and their game became nationals best seller.
By this 13th birthday, he was a multimillionaire. He bought one of the original "Delores" used.
