Eastern Orthodoxy and Roman Catholicism had many differences. The diversities between churches often caused conflict, especially between two brothers. Simon, a priest from Byzantine, often did not get along with his own brother, Anthony, a Roman priest.
Even with their fighting, Simon always tried his best to put their differences aside. So when he got married to his wife, Zoe, he invited Anthony to the wedding. But Anthony was bitter towards the celebration, for the fact that his religion prevented him from marrying.
Even simple conversations between the two were nearly impossible because of their languages. Simon was fluent in Greek but Anthony was able to speak Latin. They had trouble understanding each other, same language or different.
One day, Simon decided that enough was enough, and wrote a letter to his brother. In the letter, he wrote how the fights they had were pointless and that they shouldn't let anything get in the way of family. After three days, the letter reached Anthony.
Anthony never imagined leaving his home, but that's exactly what he ended up doing. The letter he received made him realize how foolish both of them had been, and it encouraged him to start fresh with his brother.
When Anthony reached his brother's town, he was ecstatic but nervous at the same time. He didn't know how he would react to seeing Simon. But instead of a period of uncomfortable silence, the brothers filled it with happiness and a newfound friendship.
