  • Thomas Jefferson,Benjamin Franklin and John Adams all wrote that the Declaration of Independence was signed by congress the day it was adopted July 4, 1776. It said that the former 13 colonies that were at war with Great Britain are now a independent nation no longer part of the British Empire.
  • Contental Congress
  • When John Adams signed the Alien and Sedition acts he built up an army and navy in an undeclared naval Quasi-War with France. A major accomplishment of his presidency was a peaceful resolution of the conflict in the face of Hamilton's opposition. Because of his big part on defense Adams is often called "the father of the american navy".
  •
  • Adams started practicing law in 1758. His most case was the Boston Massacre, which was when British soldiers fired at a Boston crowd on March, 5 1770 killing five civilians and injuring six. Adams believed the soldiers should have a fair trial, he successfully defended the British soldiers with six of them being acquitted while the other two received reduced sentences.
  • In 1774 Adams was elected as representatives of Massachusetts to the First Continental Congress. During the American Revolution The Continental Congress which was a convention of delegates from the Thirteen Colonies became the governing body of U.S. Adams was an influential member of the congress and argued in favor of permanent separation from Britain.
  • I Think that John Adams deserves a memorial because although he wasn't the best president he did many great things to help America like giving the British Soldiers a fair trial during the British Massacre, helping with the Declaration of Independence, also helping out with the permeant separation from Britain, and many more things.
