At Duncan’s castle, the king thanks Banqou and Macbeth for their bravery and says he will visit Macbeth’s Castle. He announces that his son, Malcolm will be the prince of Cumberland, so therefore the next king of of Scotland.
At Macbeth’s castle, Lady Macbeth reads the letter from her husband about the witches unusual prophecy and that the prophesy they made has already came true. She is excited at the prospect of becoming queen but fears that Macbeth doesn’t have what it takes to become king. She’s willing to do whatever it takes to become queen. She tempts Macbeth to murder King Duncan.
Macbeth steps away from the party, letting his conscious get the best of him. He decides not to kill Duncan. When he breaks the news to his wife, she plays with his emotions by question his manhood and insults him. Now he’s at the point where he once agrees with going along with the plan.
