  • One Partner begins to feel dissatisfied with the relationship. They weigh up the pros and cons and evaluate their partner against the other alternative options as well as being alone.
  • I am feeling dissatisfied with my relationship! Would i be better off alone or with someone else?
  • Dyadic Stage
  • The dissatisfied partner voices his concerns and disagreements happen over a period of times. The partners may choose to break up (option one).
  • We have been arguing so much recently! What do you want to do?
  • We should break up! I feel justified withdrawing from it!
  • Dyadic Stage
  • However option 2 for the partners would be to continue with the relationship and repair it.
  • Should we repair this relationship?
  • We should put this behind us and start again! i want to have a relationship with you
  • Social Stage
  • It was her fault we broke up!
  • You were too good for her anyway!

  • I heard that too! you put up with it for too long!
  • I didnt want to tell you this but... he was flirting with Mary all last week!
  • Grave Dressing Stage
  • After all this time i still believe its HER fault not mine!

  • The break up is now public, the individuals console with their friends.
  • Friends often tell the partner about their secrets that happened within the relationship!
  • The relationship is now over, and each partners comes to terms with the break up in their own way. This may be by blaming the other partner still so they can stay in good light.
