  • French Revolution Introduction
  • NO CROPS, NO MONEY!!!!!!!!!

  • Factors that Lead to the Revolution
  • Let them eat cake!
  • Meeting of the Estates-General
  • The Estates-General
  • Many people in France realized it was time for a change. After bad harvest, high taxes, high prices, and weak leadership, the people of France decided it was time for a revolution.
  • The Tennis Court Oath
  • This will be our new meeting room!
  • A huge factor that lead to the French Revolution was when King Louis and Marie Antoinette were in power. They didn't give many rights and raised high taxes (especially on bread) which left their people starving. During the women's march (angry women marching up to the castle and demanding food, bread), Marie Antoinette supposedly said, "Let them eat cake!"
  • The storming of the Bastille
  • LETS GO GET THAT GUNPOWDER!!!
  • The meeting of the Estates-General was a meeting for the first estate (clergy), second estate (nobility), and third estate (common people).
  • The Great Fear
  • When the National Assembly found themselves locked out of their original meeting room, they took matter into their own hands and broke down a door to a tennis room. Their meetings were taken there from then on.
  • The third estate had heard of rumors about Louis using military to dismiss the National Assembly and that foreign troops were coming to massacre French citizens in Paris. So people in the third estate grabbed as many weapons they could find to defend Paris. On July 14th, a multitude of people marched the Paris prison, Bastille, in search of gunpowder.
  • The Great Fear was a wave of panic through France where peasants became outlaws themselves. They'd break into nobles' manors, burn down all the houses and destroy feudal dues.
