The story of the Aztec civilization in a 6-celled comic.
Before the great Aztec Empire, the Aztec were just the average Mesoamerican tribe. However, they were determined to change that after they became fierce warriors. They would starve no longer!
The Aztec skillfully conquered many surrounding villages and settlements, and built the stunning capital, Tenochtitlán. It was in the middle of the lake Texcoco.
Needless to say, the Aztec flourished. They made many advancements in art and science, and had their own religion. Life was great....until the Spanish arrived.
The Spanish conquistadors, led by Hernán Cortés in 1519, eventually led to the downfall of the Aztec. They were much stronger than the Aztec, but there were several factors that caused the decline of the Aztec civilization.
The Spanish brought powerful firearms and swords, objects that the Aztec had never seen. Conquistadors killed many this way, and also brought disease (i.e. small pox) to South America.
The powerful Aztec Empire finally succumbed to the Spanish in 1521, and the once invincible Tenochtitlán was rebuilt as the capital of New Spain, now Mexico City. In 1525, the last emperor of the Aztec was hung.
