  • "This is what my job is." said her mother. Her mother Demeter was explaning her job to her.
  • Later that day, Persophone was playing with her friends. They were playing in the fields and Persophone was singing.
  • Meanwhile down in the underworld, Hades was getting his chariot ready to go to the real world. His three-headed dog needed some emergency exercise.
  • However when Hades came out of the underworld he instantly feel in love with Persophone. So he scooped her into his chariot and took her into the underworld.
  • Persophone begged and begged Hades to take her back to her mother. but Hades madly in love with Persophone reused to take her back. Persophone had heard that if you eat anything in the underworld you must live there forever. Meanwhile back on Earth Demeter had gone to confront Zeus "how dare you send my beautiful daughter to the ruler of the underworld! she is capable enough of every man on Earth." Demeter kept telling Zeus to return her daughter to her so Zeus sent his messenger Hermes to the underworld to ask Hades to return Persophone. Demeter declared until Persophone did not return she would not grow any crops on the land.
  • However Hermes was very smart. He took a magical pomegranate with him. He told Hades that however many seeds Persophone would eat that is how many months she would have to spend on Earth and the remaining months she would spend in the underworld. Persophone ate 6 seeds which meant she would have to spend 6 months on Earth and 6 months in there underworld. When her daughter was not there Demeter would not grow any crops but when her daughter comes back to her the crops regrow and the animals come out of hibernation. That is the story of Persophone.
