Lena Horne was born in Brooklyn, New York on June 30,1917. She lived in a good neighborhood with good education and during which found her hobbies for being an actress/ singer. She was forced to drop out of school at 26 because she had to help support her mom by preforming in front of people. This meant that they kept moving around the US in small towns with little to zero education. Now her life is devoted to dancing,singing, and acting.
Lena Horne helped MLK and his ways to make all people equal in many ways. She invented the group called the cafe/ safe society. This place was the first bar she sang in called the the cotton club. Shew has many memorible moments in her life because she was one of the first black women to make a living on singing/ acting in Harlem, and because she helped work with MLK free black people from unjust treatment/ segregation. She has won many awards in music, and in acting as the first black lady to do so and has made many records and albums that have sold out and become big hits.
Lena Horne died 6 years ago on May 9,2010 due to congestive heart failure. Even though Lena Horne died she still lives on as one of the first black women to become a professional actor, and for helping MLK and his ambitions for a equal word.
