  • "He was my father, too!"
  • "So what? He was mine, too- and Travis's grandfather- but the insurance money belongs to mama."
  • Act One
  • " Son - do you know your wife is expecting another baby?...I think Ruth is thinking 'bout getting rid of that child."
  • " No-no- Ruth wouldn't do that."
  • Act Two
  • "You trust me like that, Momma?"
  • "I want you to take this money and take three thousand dollars and put int in a savings account for Beneatha's medical schooling."
  • Momma has recieved ten thousand dollars from her husbands insurance and is discussing her plans with the money to her son Walter and Beneatha who have over ideas. He wants to use the money for a liquor store and Beneatha wants it for her Medical school.
  • Act Two
  • "What have you done to your head- I mean your hair!"
  • "Nothing except cut it off."
  • " Now thats the truth- it's what ain't been done to it! You except this boy to go out with you with your head all nappy like that?"
  • Momma tells Walter that Ruth wants to have an abortion and Walter refuses to beleive his wife would do such a thing.
  • Act Three
  • " The insurance money, my brother gave it away." - " He made an investment. With a man even Travis wouldn't have trusted with his worn out marbles."
  • " Gave a it away?"
  • "Momma just informed Walter about the check she received of ten thousand dollars from her husbands insurance."
  • Act Three
  • " Grandmama , the moving men are downstairs!"
  • " Are they baby, they downstairs?"
  • Momma doesn like what beneatha did to her hair because it shows theirblack ethinicity.
  • Walter mistakenly gave away the money away to some business people,leaving the family broke.
  • The family is planning on moving out of their house.
