  • What can you tell me about multiple births?
  • There is a high risk for a single embryo to divide and result into identical twins.
  • No more than 2 embryos can be transferred to a woman under 40, and no more than 3 for woman over 40.
  • Also, it depends on how much embryos are transferred to the womb.
  • Risks of Infertility treatments
  • Not only multiple births are a risk. Also drug reaction to the fertility drugs, OHSS, Ectopic pregnancy, and birth defects.
  • If the woman wants to reduce the risk, if she is under 35, a single embryo will be transferred, if she is over 35, two or three will be transferred.

  • What are the percentages of multiple pregnancies compared with the ones conceived naturally?
  • Is 20 times more likely to have a multiple birth after an IVF treatment than with a natural pregnancy.
