  • HOW FRINDLE WAS INVENTED
  • THE PENNY PANTRY
  • AT SEVENTH PERIOD
  • Nick and Janet were walking home because they missed the bus. Janet saw a gold ballpoint pen, then gave it to Nick. Nick gave it back to her and said here is your...frindle. Janet was confused, but Nick said you'll see tomorrow, and went home.
  • NICK CAN I SEE YOU FOR A MINUTE?
  • Nick asked the lady at the penny pantry for a blue frindle, she didn't understand, but he kept repeating "a blue one please", and the lady gave him a blue pen. He asked some of his friends to ask the lady what he said ,and the lady knew what they were talking about.
  • SAY CHEESE!
  • NIck thought seventh period would be the best place to introduce frindle. He raised his hand and said, Mrs.Granger I don't have a frindle. Of course he was acting, his friend John said that he had an extra then he tossed to Nick and Nick missed on purpose.
  • A DEVASTATING ANNOUNCEMENT
  • Obviously John was acting too. After class, Mrs. Granger called Nick to talk to him. She told him she was very upset , and won't have her class interrupted again. Nick claimed he really didn't have one. Then Mrs.Granger let him go.
  • TWO DAYS LATER: It was picture day. After everyone was finished taking individual photos, it was time for the class photo. The photographer said say cheese, but everyone said "Frindle!" The photographer was out of film so he could not take another picture.
  • Mrs.Granger was furious. The next day after the class picture was taken she made an announcement and put it outside the office. It said anyone who says frindle instead of pen will see me after school, and will write 100 sentences, that say I am writing this with a pen.
