"(He) held up a mask that drew their eyes and appalled them. He began to dance and his laughter became bloodthirsty snarling... The mask was a thing on its own.." (Golding 64).
"Jack had Robert by the hair and was brandishing his knife... The chanting rose ritually as at the last moment of a dance or a hunt. 'Kill the pig! Cut her throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in!'" (Golding 114).
