Joey, Lizabeth and other children head over to Ms. Lottie's house, to taunt her and her son. In acts of childishness the children three rocks at Ms. Lottie and her son.
After hearing her parents fight at night, Lizabeth takes her brother to Mrs. Lottie. In act of Anger, Lizabeth tears out all of the marigolds while crying.
Lizabeth realizes her childish behavior and her understanding of Ms. Lottie grows, and she now feels more like a woman. she realizes she made a mistake and misinterpreted Ms. Lotties character.
