  • Yes, I agree with that.
  • I have an idea! What if we let popular sovereignty decide what kind of states Kansas and Nebraska are. We'll separate them into two states and call it The Kansas-Nebraska Act
  • Come on, then, gentlemen of the Slave States. . . . We will engage in competition for the virgin soil of Kansas and God give the victory to the side that is stronger in numbers as it is in right.
  • So we have two choices Pro-slavery (Right)or Anti-Slavery(Left)
  • The Kansas Nebraska Act- This act was what started the whole feud. To respect the Missouri Compromise and allow popular sovereignty decide what kind of state it was at the same time they split the land into two territories one in the North and one in the South and called them Kansas and Nebraska.
  • The Beginning of the Race For Kansas- This was a pretty short event, northerners and southerners raced for control of the territory of Kansas to eventually make the state a slave or free state. This race was instigated by New York Senator William Seward.
  • Calm Down, John Brown did what he felt was right and we Northerners support it especially after The Sack of Lawrence
  • John Brown did What!? This is outrageous he must be arrested.
  • The Border Ruffians- During the elections for governor armed ruffians known as border ruffians entered the voting area with their revolvers cocked and voted illegally for the Pro-Slavery Candidates.
  • You Southerners and your violence!
  • The Sack of Lawrence- The Border Ruffians were tired of the resistance that the Anti-Slavery government put up. So 800 armed men raided Lawrence, Kansas which was the headquarters of the Anti-Slavery Government and burned it to the ground.
  • The Pottawatomie Massacre- After the events at Lawrence Ardent abolitionist John Brown assaulted five border ruffians. He chopped off their hands and killed them causing an uproar in the senate.
  • Preston S. Brooks beats Charles Sumner because he abused his Uncle ruthlessly in his speech. The speech was given due to the events happening in Kansas and how during this time period Kansas became "Bloody Kansas".
