Hello there! Today we are going to learn how to solve 2 Step Equations! The Equation we are going to be doing is 1/2x +8=22.
The First thing we need to do is use inverse operations. Inverse Operations is when you take the constant, which is the 8, and do the opposite of what it is in the equation. In this equation we would have to subtract 8 from 8 and 22. Like this: 1/2x+8=22 8-8=0, 22-8=14. Now our equation is 1/2x=14.
Our next Step will be to simplify. We need to find the number that x represents. To do this we need to simplify by using the Equation Property of Multiplication. Like this: You multiply 1/2x and 14 by 1/2 1/2x(1/2)=14(1/2) That will leave you with x=28
Now lets run back through the problem one more time! 1/2x+8=14 8-8=0, 22-8=14 1/2x=14 1/2x(1/2)=14(1/2) x=28
Thanks For letting me teach you today! Happy Solving!
