  • On Christmas Day 1066, William took the crown of England after defeating another person who also wanted power at the battle of Hastings. He had the Domesday census taken to learn about his kingdom. This helped William and future kings build a successful system of collecting taxes, which would help them build up their kingdom.

  • Edward the II was the fourth son of Edward I and his wife. when Edward I died in 1307 he had left a range of challenges for his son to resolve.
