  • The Overall Theme in "The Devil in Tom Walker" is greed.
  • When Tom Walker informs his wife with his encounter with the devil, she immediately tells him to make a deal so that they can get rich. She steals all their valubles and goes to find the devil.
  • When his wife disappears, Tom then finds the devil again and makes a deal with him, wanting money and a good lifestyle right away.
  • Tom Walker quickly becomes very rich and well-known, but also very self-absorbed and mean.
  • Tom ends up milking all of his customers for everything they have.
  • Tom then meeets his demise by not wanting to loose his money out of a deal, saying "May the Devil take me", which is what ended up happening.
