Hello! I'm Corny Cornflakes. Now you may be used to eating me for breakfast. But my grandfather, the first cereal looked and tasted a lot different than me.
Grandfather Granula was first made in 1863, by a Dr. James Caleb Jackson. He called the cereal Granula.
To make the first cereal, Dr. Jackson mixed together gram flour and water. It was then baked into nuggets.
The dense bran nuggets then had to be soaked in milk overnight in order to be edible.
Now look at how far we'be come! Now people don't have to soak their cereal in milk, but some do anyway. Cereal now is a sugary treat that we eat daily for breakfast!
