A storyboard about the climax in the book "Copper Sun" by Sharon Draper.
The climax begins when Amari falls and drops the dessert. Amari was a slave and at the time she was working in the house. After dropping the pie, Mr. Derby whipped her as punishment. This sets up other events that happen later in the story.
The next part of the climax is when Amari and Polly help Mrs. Derby with her baby. When the baby is black, they realize that the baby was born to Mrs. Derby and a slave named Noah, not Mr. Derby. All three of them (Mrs. Derby, Amari and Polly) will be in trouble because of this since Polly and Amari helped deliver the baby.
The next part of the climax happens right after the baby is born. When Mr. Derby finds out about the black baby, he is angry with his wife, the slave Noah, and Amari and Polly. He shoots Noah and the baby and lets Amari, Polly and Mrs. Derby witness it.
The next part of the climax is when Mr. Derby gives Amari, Polly and Tidbit (the child of someone who helped hide the baby from Mr. Derby) their punishment. He says that Polly's indenture along with Amari and Tidbit are to be sold. There are going to be taken to the auction by a doctor who was supposed to help Mrs. Derby with the baby.
The last part of the climax is when the doctor (who does not really believe in slavery) begins to take Amari, Polly and Tidbit to be sold when he lets them go saying that he would lie and say he was attacked and they ran off. This is a major plot twist as it gives Amari, Polly and Tidbit a chance to escape the cruelties of slavery.
