  • Hello Charlie, are you ready to do the operation?
  • Yes, Dr. Strauss. 
  • See you after Charlie. 
  • Hello everyone. 
  • Charlie is a 37 year old man, who has a low IQ. Charlie is in night class with Miss. Kinnian. Miss. Kinnian introduced Charlie to Dr. Strauss and Dr. Nemur who is going to do an experiment on Charlie to get him smart. They did an experiment on a mouse, Algernon, to see if it would work.
  • Charlie gets the operation. To start out he has to learn how to read and write. Then Charlie is going to start using punctuation and getting to learn new things.
  • Charlie is getting smarter than he was before. He is learning math and science. Charlie and Algernon became best friends and they got presented to the world.  
  • Algernon is acting up and bites Charlie. Algernon can not do things by himself now and has the brain of a size of a pea. Charlie is afraid that will happen to him and he will become lower advanced again.
  • Charlies level of intelligence decreases and he starts to lose his knowledge. He loses things that he learned recently. He loses his knowledge of reading, writing, and typing. He starts to insult himself by not going to work or taking care of himself.
  • Charlie decides to move at of New York so people do not know who he is. Charlie does not want people knowing what he has been through. He wants them to think that he is just a person who is not as intelligent as everyone else.
