How to create a citation for a work in an anthology, reference, or collection according to MLA.

  • Remember. All the parts of the citation are separated by periods. All titles are italicized. Every line after the first has a hanging indent. The entry should be double-spaced.
  • Works Cited: A Work in an Anthology, Reference, or Collection
  • What's in a name? The first part of the selection is the name. Last Name, First Name.
  • What comes first?
  • Hark ye scholar! The next selection is the name of the essay. "Title of Essay."
  • Give credit kind citizen! You must name the source and the editor(s). Title of Collection. Ed. Editor's Name(s).
  • Bonjour! Remember location, location, location! City of publication: Publisher, Year.
  • Don't forget how you got here! Page range of entry. Medium of publication.
