  • Margaret Corbin joined her husband at Fort Washington as a camp follower. When her husband was shot, Corbin took up the cannon and began firing until she was injured.
  • Foreign-Born Heroes in the Revolution
  • This is a painting of Jane McCrea, an innocent women who was supposedly scalped by the Indians. It was used as propaganda to show the Native Americans as merciless and evil human beings and the British who hired them are equally terrible.

  • During the Revolutionary War, both sides wanted to have slaves on board. Both sides offered freedom so frightened slaves had a hard time choosing which side would actually do it.

  • Baron von Steuben was a Prussian officer who educated the troops on combat at Valley Forge. He mostly spoke German and yelled a lot so his lessons were not exactly enjoyable.
  • Nathan Hale was a spy who spied in New York for the Patriots. he was caught and hanged which is where he set those famous last words.
  • Soldiers carried many items with them such as a musket, a hook and twine for fishing, a blanket, a tinderbox, a uniform, and an axe.
